First of all, a big
thanks to Mr Enrico Minazzi the owner of Aermacchi Historical Register http://www.aermacchimoto.com
who provided the informations about models produced by AMF-HD. Below is
shown a table that qualifies the units produced per year. The table is related
to the 6F serie (SS 125 - SST 125). Unfortunately, the data are only
partial because some registry has been lost through the years. In addition to
these should be added the 6F
motorcycles manufactured for the American market, which had some different
characteristichs from those of the italian an European markets. Update in
progress.

The
SS/SST 125 motorcycles are identified by the 6F sign. The mark on
the frame (steering tube) has undergone several changes, due to factory changes. Below are shown some

The OM 14754
omologation was released to AMF Harley Davidson in data May 23, 1975, first frame 6F-60000 H5 (SS 125).
The OM 14754 omologation was extended with OM 17697 in data Jan 27, 1978 for brake disc
variant, starting from frame 6F-80000 H8. Name changes from SS 125 to SST
125.
The OM 19201 omologation was released to Cagiva in data Feb 08, 1979, starting from
frame 6F-82102 (SST 125).
Damaged frames are replaced with new one. The S/N was the same but a "S"
was added as follows: 6F-60219 HS7 (for AMF/HD); 6F-96514 S (for Cagiva).
Frame replacement was possibly provided with the new factory name. Example:

MARK |
| The engine S/N mark is located on the righ half of crankcase, on the
top of rear hook. The
manufacturer mark is located on the left half of the crankcase.

- V.I.N. FONT
Below
is an explanatory table about the font type used to indicate the S/N. It's
changed during the production for a total of 3 different types. First type (1)
was used by Harley Davidson and by Cagiva. This is the classic HD font. It
appears to have been carved and hand made. In a note issued by Harley Davidson
was clarified that the numbers 6 and 9, although different in the signature to
make them recognizable, were both interchangeable. Second type (2) was
used only on 2102 units. It appears tinner and more regular. Both fonts (1)
e (2) are embossed on a metal plate welded on the steering tube. Upon
reaching S/N 6F-100000, with addition of sixth digit, Cagiva decided to abandon
the metal plate and imprint the S/N directly on the frame, on steering tube. The
font was also changed (3), smaller than the previous one.
