Decals & Colors

You may find decals simply surfing in internet and you can buy stickers to tank (stripes and logo), side panels, remember, pressure, dashboard variations "gen" and "lights", "elefantino" logo to apply on metal plate. To attach adhesives, particularly those of the tank, you should use water soap to correct the position during application and in particular to overcome the spherical tank. Once application is done, is recommended to apply transparent varnish on the tank and side panels to protect the decals from leaking fuel and weather. The logo CAGIVA is applied between the second and third strip.

Vectorial and rasterized decals

Below I reproduced decals of various models Cagiva and HD. They has been drawn using a CAD program, specimens of which have been taken from the original decals in my possession. For the moment, available to the public, are available raster versions only.

AMF HARLEY DAVIDSON SS
Adopted since 1975 on SS models, these decal has 6 stripes which follows the old static design of the previous Aermacchi model. The Harley Davidson logo is always white is for its construction was used a classic character Sans Serif Bold. The design will be adopted on the 125 until 1977. The colors used are:
- Blue / white / red for black tank, which is an obvious reference to the US flag;
- Violet / red / brown basic, for blue, red, purple and orange tank. The orange tank differs only by the black triangle on the AMF writing instead of red;
- Black / blue / green basic, for ocher tank.

AMF HARLEY DAVIDSON SST
In 1978, the stripes number decrease from 6 to 5, it becomes thicker and assume the characteristic enveloping appearance that will be maintained until 1983. It will be the longest appearance of all subsequent productions Cagiva. In the United States the design was adopted starting in 1976. Harley Davidson logo is always white and assumes the black color only on orange tank. The AMF logo has always a red triangle, but black on orange tank.

HD CAGIVA SST
The October 20, 1978 Cagiva bought the Harley Davidson factory and continued production with the double mark. The font used for the HD Cagiva logo is Eponymous Black Italic (doubled on X axis, hollowed). The HD CAGIVA logo is blank, the adhesive part is constituted by the characters edge and it is always in white color.

CAGIVA SST
In 1980 the HD logo was removed and CAGIVA type was completely filled, while maintaining the edge of characters of the same color of the tank. Character used is Eponymous Black Italic (doubled on X axis). The CAGIVA logo for white fuel tank has a large edge.

CAGIVA ALETTA SST
With the production of the updated version we are also updated logos. The CAGIVA logo is no longer sticky, it is in relief and is made from a plastic plate to screw directly onto the tank. The new design vaguely recalls the old strips in their enveloping form, the model, however, it is made up of adhesive that reproduce a shade. The model used for the gradient was a pattern widely used in the 80's and corresponds to the model reproduced in the catalog Silhouette n. 1521.The font used is Fuego Inline.
